Things to do besides climbing installment

Clear Creek Caving-
This past Sunday, Marcelo talked a few of us into an underground excursion in clear creek. A fun little fault cavern with several small squeezes offered up a couple hours of non-climbing entertainment. Yes. "Mano". Hand.
Everyone was psyched at the bouldering potential found both near the entrance and exit to the cave. Maybe we should take some pads up sometime!
The pinches and confinement begin right as you drop through the entrance and underground.
If you are at all claustrophobic, this little trip is not for you.
Yes, this is an actual pinch that you squeeze through. Marcelo squirmed through inch by inch and I followed.
It leads to a fault about a foot wide that runs for 30 feet. Very cool.
Strangely enough, Marcelo has to go down and under the block frank is standing on to get to him. It's a labyrinth down there!
This photo was shot by frank back down towards where I was at in the previous photo.
There is quite a bit of graffiti in the cave. Frank is dropping down into the biggest room which is close to one of the entrances.
Pretty freakin cool. Though admittedly not as cool as bouldering.
Doc said the finger MIGHT be ready for super-jugs in February.
Until then, no straining the finger and rest.
Suck.
More "things to do besides climbing installments" coming soon.

i almost threw up just seeing the shot of the dello's feets sticking out of that little hole.

at least it's solid rock and not likely to shift.

in highschool a few of us slipped through this downhill slot like the one the dello is going through... there was a cruxy kink-turn in the hole half way through at about 7ft before the cavern opened up. we all slipped downhill and through just fine, but no one could seem to get out. the loose shale crumbled as you tried to inch your way back up and the slot was too narrow to have your shoulders square... had to have one arm in front, one behind like my granny swimming sidestroke. also, the slot was too long and narrow for the others to really help push the first person up and out... i went first... they got me started but i had to death grapple with ridiculous off-width technique until i finally got far enough through the kink that i could get some opposition against the outer slot walls.... uggghhh. i shredded my whole body in the panic, but was able to help the others through by sticking a flexible sapling down in the hole that they could only hold with the lead had due to the sidestroke beta...

one friend explored the watery dead end of the cave to see if he could find an alternative exit and swim out, only to go semi hypothermic and couldn't quite hang on to the sapling to get out. they had to warm him up in the cave until he could hold on tight enough.

EPIC!
